Dave and Anita Devore

Serving with ABWE in Durbanville, South Africa

1. We are finishing our ministries in Cape Town this year!
2. We are praying our house will sell before the end of March!
3. We are hoping to attend ABWE’s Missionary Enrichment Conference this year and also attend a 50th Anniversary at a supporting church in Pennsylvania where Anita’s father was the first pastor!
Dave and Anita Devore have sold their house in Cape Town and will fly back to the U.S. on May 12. There is a possibility that they will not be allowed to take the money from the sale of their house out of the country. They have applied to the Reserve Bank and are awaiting their decision, which may not come before their flights.

I will also continue teaching in Church Ministries Institute and that will give me plenty to do, though I will also do “pulpit supply” in some of the sister churches when invited.

Bob and Eileen Edmondson

Serving with Global Training Network from Chandler, Arizona

I've been a pastor for 25 years. The past 10 years have been spent serving Faith Community Church of Chandler, Arizona. I hold a Masters degree in Bible and theology from Northwest Baptist Seminary and a Doctorate from Talbot School of Theology in the area of church leadership.

Eileen has served for 11 years as the office administrator for the Arizona Christian School Tuition Organization in Chandler and has partnered with me in the work of pastoral ministry. We've been married for 28 years and have two adult daughters and one adult son. All are serving the Lord.

Eileen and I have always had a heart for missions and have actively promoted missions efforts in the churches we have served. We've personally engaged in missions work in other countries whenever possible. We find it a great joy to serve God in the strategic work of training pastors and church leaders all over the world who can then go on to reach and teach others.

Chuck and Jean Frerichs (Quincy, WA)

Former ABWE missionaries to Peru, Hispanic Director of NWBHM

I graduated from Los Angeles Baptist Theological Seminary (which became Northwest Baptist Seminary) in 1966 with the Bachelor or Divinity degree (now the Master of Divinity). While a student I had been challenged towards missions and was strongly encouraged by missionary Bill Scherer to consider the field of Peru. Within a few months of graduation I was accepted by the Association of Baptists for World Evangelism as a missionary to Peru. After a year of deputation, my wife (Judy) and I, along with our daughter (Ruth), arrived in Mexico in January of 1968 for language study. Our second daughter, Sarah, was born while in Mexico. In the Spring of 1969 we began our ministry in Lima, Peru, working at the Pamplona Baptist Church. That ministry grew from 15 to 80 during the next three years, during which time our son, Steve, was born.

I have been continually ministering and have seen significant blessing in Peru since that time. The various areas around Lima where my family and I have labored are Pamplona baja, Alphonso Ugarte, Ollantay, Salamanca, Grumete Medina, Chacarilla, and Las Vinas. Each of these areas now has a church building, and most have Peruvian pastors. I am involved in a wide variety of ministries, including that of pastoring and teaching in a Bible institute and in the Theological Education by Extension program. In addition I am active in evangelism. My wife, Judy, served by my side until her death in August of 1994. Since that time, I married Jean Gustave who was teaching school in Lima while learning the language.

Jean and I have since come to the US serving with ABWE and NWBHM in Central Washington with the Hispanic population as the Hispanic director. Works have been begun in Quincy, Connell and Grandview. God has been blessing this ministry since August 2002.

Our Personal Calling... God, God’s Word, and the souls of people

According to the Bible, these are the only three things that will last forever. In light of this, we believe that God has called us to serve as missionaries in seeking to impact people for eternity.

Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.”     Isaiah 6:8

Courtney Lancaster

Serving with ABWE in Miyakonojo, Japan

During my junior year of college God led me to go on a short missions trip to Japan with ABWE. I experienced many different ministries and learned a lot about missions. Specifically, I learned that you don't have to be a "special" person to be a missionary, just someone willing to follow God's leading to live the Christian life wherever He places you.

The missionary team invited me to return after I graduated from college and serve with them. Through prayer, I felt this was God's leading and I joined the missionary team in Miyakonojo in August 2006. My main ministry was MK education, but I also helped with different outreaches for children, English speakers, and singles.

The Lord spoke to me that fall through passages such as Isaiah 59-61 and showed me the depravity of man and the urgency to share Christ. I returned to Japan for a second year and served as a church planting assistant. I participated in a variety of ministries as a means to build relationships in the community. I then returned to the US in July 2008 to attend classes at ABWE to become a full time missionary.

I completed raising my support and arrived in Japan in January 2010. I am working with a team of ABWE missionaries on the island of Kyushu, Miyazaki prefecture, Miyakonojo city, and specifically focusing on ministries with teen girls and women. I am excited to serve God in Japan and am looking forward to what He has in store for the future!
