70 Years of Fellowship
In June of 1952, two young ladies from First Baptist Wenatchee began teaching Sunday School to three children at East Wenatchee City Hall. That December, fifty-two attended the Christmas program. God was moving. By July 1953, property was purchased, a building constructed, and Sunday School was held. The first church service was gathered that November 20th. Seventeen founding members signed the charter and called Thomas Miller to be the pastor of East Wenatchee First Baptist Church.
After the loan for the original building and addition was paid off, a building fund was established. Excavation began on the current building in October of 1976. It was able to be occupied for Easter Sunday in 1980 and completed in 1985. The church continued to grow. By 1992, additional pews were installed and the adjacent lot was purchased to expand parking. Improvements have continued. The original 1976 plans included an education wing; the groundbreaking is planned for the summer of 2026.
Over the years, pastors and leadership have guided the church to be a light in the community. Empowered by diligent prayer, we are fulfilling the Great Commission by sharing the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ through ministries including Awana, VBS, 12 Steps with God, Operation Christmas Child, missionary support, and numerous others. The love and compassion of our people have cultivated a place where the hurting find hope, the broken are healed, and Christians grow in the Lord. By God’s grace, East Wenatchee First Baptist Church will continue until Christ’s return.
