12 Steps with God…

Step 1  — Confession
Realizing that our lives are unmanageable, and we are powerless to do what is good; we acknowledge that sin eternally separates us from our righteous, loving God and that we are helpless to meet His standard on our own.

Step 2  — Gospel
We know that a loving God, extending mercy and grace to us, sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross to pay the penalty for our sin and offers us an abundant life and greater joy than on our own.

Step 3  — Faith
Through God’s mercy and grace, we recognized our lost condition, repented of our sin, and believed in the Lord Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior to receive the gift of eternal life.  Moment by moment we reaffirm that decision by turning our will and lives over to the care of God.

Step 4  — Examine
We made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.

Step 5  — Admit
We admitted to God, to ourselves, and to a brother/sister in Christ the sin in our lives.

Step 6  — Surrender
We were entirely ready to give God control of our lives and help us move from a focus on self to one of humility and a concern for others.

Step 7  — Petition
We humbly asked Him to cleanse us from all sin.

Step 8  — Assessment
We made a list of all persons we had harmed and identified ways to make amends to them all.

Step 9  — Amends
We made direct amends to such people whenever possible.

Step 10  — Admission
We continue to take personal inventory and when we are wrong, promptly admit it and seek to be reconciled.

Step 11  — Prayer
We seek through prayer and meditation to know God’s Word and grow in Christ, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and power to carry that out.

Step 12  — Discipleship
Having come to know the Lord Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior and beginning this journey of faith with Him in a Bible-believing church, we share the gospel with others and encourage them to grow in Christ.

Thoughts from Alcoholics Anonymous…

While these 12 Steps with God were inspired by the Twelve Steps of A.A., they are not an actual adaptation of those 12 Steps. Rather they were created specifically for this group and should not be construed otherwise. A.A. is a program concerned only with the recovery from alcoholism and, is in no way affiliated with this group, or allied with any sect, denomination, or specific religious belief.

Thoughts from East Wenatchee First Baptist Church…

While AA and other religious 12 Step recovery groups were in part the inspiration for this ministry, the 12 Steps with God were specifically developed to be a Christ-centered, Bible-based Biblical Counseling ministry of the local church for those struggling with addiction and a myriad of other life issues. Our sole objective is to minister to those who are struggling by introducing them to Christ, discipling them in their relationship with Christ, and helping them begin to disciple and encourage others to do the same.
